Mary Shelley may have conceived of electricity as a mystical life force that could jerk the leg of a dead frog or animate Dr. Frankenstein’s monster, but we now know the truth is both more subtle and more wonderful.

Electricity is not the stuff of life but of consciousness. Evidence is mounting that the universe has produced vast numbers of suitable habitats for life — including, within our own solar system, a watery ancient Mars and the oceans that lie under the icy surface of Jupiter’s moon Europa. But even as we debate claims of fossilized Martian bacteria, a third generation of radio astronomers has found nothing but a wasteland of static in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence.

Is life ubiquitous in the universe but consciousness rare? In terms of geologic time, it took a mere wink of an eye for life to come into being on Earth once conditions were suitable, so there is every reason to believe that it exists elsewhere. Large-brained mammals, however, appear as a virtual afterthought in the record of our biosphere, which remains dominated by single-celled life.

Now you begin your study of electricity and magnetism, the phenomena of which your own mind is made. “Give some though to this image of awesome loneliness: there may be no other planet in our galaxy of ten billion stars where a collection of electric charges and fields can ponder its own existence.“

The famous Peter Seller's film,"Being There".

In it a gardner serving in a millionaires estate,having no knowledge of the world outside that estate,inherits all the wealth.Suddenly finding himself a rich man,he starts getting importance and a point comes,where he gets nominated as a candidate for presidency.He even goes on to become teh President.

He is clueless about how he came into power or waht to do with it.

The last line in the film, which is also on Peter Seller's tomb,is:

LIFE IS A STATE OF MIND

Pluto or no Pluto ….does it really matter!

I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw the entire scientific world, enter into a trauma, over such a crazy issue: “Should Pluto belong to our Solar System as a planet or not?”!!!
The scientists are behaving as though they have been vetoed with the universal authority to chalk out intergalactic boundaries!

Frankly Pluto or no Pluto……do we really care?????
How rational is it for us to debate upon such a naïve issue, which is in no way going to affect any of our lives!
Astronomy has been a very fascinating subject ever since it evolved! … It was and still is also the most controversial!
Astronomers first discovered the nine planets and the sun included they called it the solar system.
The funny thing about astronomers was that they liked to be autonomous in their way of looking at things beyond earth, and I have strange feeling they also have a childish nature! … One says “Pluto is too small to be a planet in our solar system”… another one says “there is no such rigid rule defining planets!”

Well fact of the matter is that we are so obsessed with the fact that there are 9 planets in our system, we have been learning and teaching it for ages, and all of a sudden most of us are reluctant to believe otherwise.

In short,
What are we loosing by accepting Pluto as a planet? And,
What are we gaining by rejecting it?

Hats-off to the Indian Express

Recently in view of the Mumbai train blasts incident the New Indian Express newspaper started a column called “Mumbai’s Life Stories”. Everyday in this column the life of one of the victims of the blasts is portrayed. These stories of a common mans who has been victimized in such terrorist acts are very touching indeed!
Every time we get to hear of such a terrorist act, all we get to see are mere number of victims being flashed in news channels, which keeps constantly increasing as time passes! “Numbers” in these cases can never convince the readers of the grief inflicted by such inconceivable acts.

On many occasions I have found men in their coffee-time-chats saying something like “hey, I heard about 200 civilians died in Lebanon, near the border!”…and very soon another man corrects him saying “no I guess it was 220!”…such a mere correction of the numbers doesn’t even remotely raise the interest of the others present there!!!

Even if a single human being is killed in such acts, we often don’t realize that it’s an entire family that is deeply shaken-financially, socially as well as emotionally.
No citizen deserves to be killed, just because of terrorism, what wrong have the victims done to be affected by such extreme violence!

It is only after I started reading this column in the New Indian Express that I really felt for the victims and their families, and my restlessness to eradicate terrorism exponentiated.

Vande Mataram / Anekam Mataram

The recent spur over the compulsion to sing our national song is totally justified as an act to show our unity.

The Muslim community’s blunt rejection to the proposal only causes the rest of the country to raise its eyebrows!!!! In this age where Islamic terrorist groups are causing havoc all over the world and within our country too, such a reaction of the Muslim clerics against the proposal to sing the national song is only being viewed as an act by them against national integration.

But their side of the story as need to be looked into! They are not allowed to worship anything other than their prophet!!!
I totally respect their values and beliefs. If it is against their faith, then they don’t have to!
The clerics rapidly have to find a way to convince the public of their patriotism; else it will only worsen their stance in the modern world!

Just as any other case a few bad apples make sure, the good ones never get appreciated.

But of course it is not illegal for anyone not to sing the national song! It is only illegal of one to disrespect our national emblems/signs/etc. And I can be patriotic and yet not go around shouting about it. No body has to wear a bright shinny badge swearing their patriotism!!!

The irony of the entire situation lies in the fact that ‘Vande Mataram” was written to unite the people of India during the independence struggle, but now it is virtually disrupting national integrity!!!!!!

India Vs Pakistan is not Israel Vs Lebanon

India Vs Pakistan is not Israel Vs Lebanon

when Israel started bombing Lebanon, their only satisfactory reason
being self-defence from the near future threats the “bush-blair”alliance
is not getting disturbed ,infact they are supporting Israels reasoning.

But India should never be under the impression that the situation b/w India and Pakinstan
will be viewed with similar sympathies.
If India ever starts bombing Pak on grounds of self-defence it will do india
more harm than good.
The Unites states would never approve of such an action by us.

we should also bear in mind that China is not in good terms with India
and so would never refuse to support pak in such a situation.
Russia has a neutral stance at present but if such a situation arises they would only
support pak as they would seem vulnerable.

there fore such an action of ours will only turn the other superpowers of the world
against us and eternally aliente us in whatever means possible.

Ofcouse there is one thing common between Israel and India,which is
that our enimies are muslim states,but that does not improve our odds!!!

The US is supporting Israel ,not because they are fighting muslims
but it is because Israel is Jewish!!!!!!!!!!!

they are misleading muslims and exploiting Islam for their own material benefits.
Islam is a religion of peace and totally against terrorism and all kind of disturbances.
let me quote a few lines from the Holy Quoran to proe this fact:-

1.”Anyone who kills in any innocent person acts as if he
had killed all mankind.Anyone who spares any life acts
as if he had granted life to all mankind.”(5:32)

2.”Do not cause any disturbance and havoc on earth.”(2:60)

3.”Act kindly,and do not aim to make riots on earth.”(28:77)

4.”Do not kill any person whom god has forbidden,except through law.”(6:151)

5.”In the hereafter,Paradise will be granted to those who want neither haughtiness
nor disturbance on earth.”(28:83)

Bollywood is not the BSE

Recently a very famous Management guru decided to shouw us
that bollywood was also his field of expertise (well …er….at least thats
that he thought…)

Management guru as some might like to call him ,I would like to call him “hype Guru”
.yes thats right “hype”….why?,…because thats his foremost strategy,and i have a
slight fear thats his last strategy.

well recently our guru decided to test his greys at bollywood…(why not
Hollywood????…er i gues thats because people there are too smart not to buy his ideas first hand)

Well he made extensive studies of the trends in the movie-making industry…,to alarming extents
that no one had dared before!!!

And foolishly decided to chalk out the magic formula to making it big
in the movie-making industry…..

So this is what he decided what his movie should have:…

A hero: “i gotta get me hunk! “

A heroine: ” i have gotta get me a girl who is ready to feel
much more confortable in front of the camera than i awkwardly want her to..”

The main theme: “love”

The precautionary sublime theme: “laughter”

The tille: “a 4 worded literary mock,whick sounds cool when abbreviated.”

The inevitable sure-shot theme: “lots of skin!!!”

The music: make a hot promo video along with the
“can-get-along” mujsic my composer creates,so that if
the audiance cant bear what ther hear ,at least the hot promotional video will
leave their mouth watered!!!

Distribution and Advertisement”oh boy! i can never get enough of those over hyped
newspaper ads with my name on it.So no cpmpromises in this regard!!!!”

P.S:”also hire a local columnist in filmfare to write
an ‘over-sensational’ review”

So with the magic formula our “guru” went ahead and produced the movie.

And so the movie got releases …was it a hit????!!….
i think i will leave that question to you…(…er..trust me it isnt that hard to guess
the answer considering all my sarcasm!!!…)

Well what went wrong i really can’t answer that question.!!!.

well…all i know is that the film industry is a very tough nut
to crack!!..
It deffinitely is’nt as easy predicting the BSE by a business/management guru…

And i am very sure sticking to the past trends is deffinitely not a way to get noticed….
or wait a minute…..IS IT??????………..well at least not “getting noticed in
the right way”!!!!!!
